Upon approval under the NLPNP or AIP, you will be able to apply for Permanent Residency (PR), as well as a temporary work permit, allowing you to travel to Canada and begin working while your PR application is in process.
* Important note: approval under NLPNP or AIP does not guarantee approval for a temporary visa or permanent residency. The federal government of Canada under the Department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) make the final decision on these applications.

11Do I need to pay any fees during my immigration application process?

  • a. Yes, however there are two sides to the process: one provincial application (NLPNP or AIP) and two federal applications (work permit and Permanent Residency).
  • b. Provincially, under the NLPNP and AIP, there are no fees for applicants nor their employer.
  • c. Federally once you are approved under NLPNP or AIP, an employer would need to pay an Employer Compliance fee to submit an Offer of Employment to support a hired worker from outside of Canada. This fee cannot be recovered from the applicant.
  • d. Federally once you are approved under NLPNP or AIP, an applicant would need to pay the work permit and permanent residency application fees, along with the biometrics fees. All federal fees are clearly labeled during the application process.
